We get a lot of enquiries asking how the band formed, so here follows a pot history to fill in a few gaps, for those who are interested...
The seed of [G2] kicked off way back in 1997. Three complete strangers met through circumstance and formed the nucleus of what became the progressive rock tribute Kudos. David Wilk (bass), Paolo Picone (guitar) & Steve Jarman (drums). They were quickly joined by Neale Worley (Keyboards). The band had mixed fortunes in terms of success. Trying to promote something so clearly defined and yet so broadly diverse proved a difficult task. 18 months down the road Paolo departed and David Rollins joined the ranks.

The core of the band's set at this time comprised - GENESIS - Firth Of Fifth, Afterglow, I Know What I Like, Los Endos, Cinema Show, Back In NYC. SUPERTRAMP - Bloody Well Right, School. PINK FLOYD - High Hopes, Time (Breath Reprise), Comfortably Numb, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Another Brick (part two). UK - In The Dead Of Night. YES medley - Long Distance Runaround, Yours Is No Disgrace, Roundabout, Heart Of The Sunrise, You And I. MARILLION - Easter.

Kudos continued to find very loyal niche audiences all over London, but trying to please all the people all the time was taking its toll on the band. Even internally, the various styles of music weren't finding a united interest. Steve gave up and David Rollins left to join the up and coming YES tribute, Fragile.

Then there were two! Neale discussed doing a Genesis tribute using the Seconds Out album as the core, with David Wilk. Both began auditioning Singers, Guitarists & Drummers for the project. David Rollins was persuaded to come and play during drummer, Jeff Walker's audition. Jeff created such an incredible vibe that evening. It was like a magical moment when everyone there knew they had something good. Both joined on the spot.

[G2] still had no singer and no name. Finding a singer was the hardest part and took several months, before Neale discovered Terry Day. Terry was the missing link, the final part of the musical jigsaw. If Phil Collins's mum had twins, then somehow, they were separated at birth because Terry has been in denial ever since of his uncanny parallel mannerisms and vocal sound to the man himself.

So a name, a name, our sanity for a name! Seconds Out begat Second Genesis, which begat Genesis Seconds, which begat... ...oh the combinations were endless and endlessly fruitless! Then at the end of one rehearsal evening, something caught David Wilk's eye. It was on Jeff's bass drum and it had always been there. It was a very small branding motif on the front head and it said, quite simply [G2]. Wow, it was, so simple!

Just as it seemed that light was visible at the tunnel's end, we were dealt another blow. David Rollins became very ill and was forced to pull out of the project. He left a large pair of shoes to fill, so we were extremely fortunate that Jeff knew a highly capable guitarist who loved Genesis. In stepped Chris Cawte, the newest and hopefully final piece of the jigsaw.

But, as is said - "never say never" - and in early 2003 [G2] found themselves looking for a keyboard player to replace Neale, who was throwing in the towel. So the game was afoot and once again G2 found themselves down at the waterhole, digging in the dust that is the drought of musicians who can and want to play this music. We had a little response, but we had discussed and agreed the importance of finding someone who fitted in at more than a musical level. It wasn't easy, but eventually we were very fortunate to finally attract and secure Piers de Lavison, whom brings another exceptional edge to the project.

Onwards & upwards, keep watching this space!
