Amersham Arms - New Cross - London
Paul Osborn: 2 October - Hi all, saw G2'enesis at the Amersham Arms in New Cross last night (October 1st) and what a great night it was. The band was simply stunning in their accuracy of reproducing Genesis' Seconds out period. Dave and the guys obviously put in a huge amount of work to deliver sonically such fine attention to detail.

ReGenesis might hold the crown for the Gabriel era but G2'enesis have managed to capture 'middle era' Genesis perfectly, we're talking Moog Taurus bass pedals, Mellotron (albeit sampled) and MXR phasers. Close your eyes and its Earl's court '77 all over again!

The drummer (I think his name is Jeff) is phenomena, absolutely spot on and I defy anybody to tell his and Collin's drumming apart. A drummer of this calibre is totally essential for any band attempting to emulate Genesis in a live setting. The vocalist bares an uncanny resemblance to Phil and delivers an honest, up-front performance (complete with stripy jumper and mask during 'robbery')! God, he even sounds like Phil. The guitarist, keyboard player and bassist are all excellent musicians who know the material inside out and backwards.

All in all it was a fantastic night and the crowd loved them. I urge you all to go and see this band and give them the support they deserve. It would be brilliant to see them at the G2 convention for instance along with ReGenesis. Make it happen people!

Oh by the way, I am in no way affiliated or connected with G2'enesis, I'm just a guy who appreciates the efforts of others in recreating some magic in our lives and as I said - Go see 'em and enjoy! Cheers Paul Osborn.

James Hendry: 7 October - Ha! I told you all how good G2 were back in May and did any of you listen? Couldn't make it to the Amersham arms the other day, but if it was a fraction as good as their debut gig, it was a cracker! Can't wait for the next one. James

Grey Horse - Kingston - Surrey
Dave McGeachie: 24 November - Thanks to G2'enesis for a great gig last night in Kingston. To hear Blood On The Rooftops (inc acoustic into which was incredible to hear and see live after all these years) Cinema Show and Robbery - all tracks I've never seen another band do, never mind Supper etc was amazing. Not many bands could START with Los Endos, played at full Seconds Out tilt, then take things on, but these guys did. That's brave.

All musicians were excellent, but special mention on this particular night to the guitarist (thanks for Blood acoustic bit among others) and the really solid, confident and accomplished bass playing. I really enjoyed this gig and so did the very respectable crowd. It sounded great out front and I loved every minute of it. Thanks Guys for taking the trouble. Best wishes, DAVE MAC.

Chris Dunk: 27 November - Hi Guys, just wanted to write and say I thought the Grey Horse gig last week was excellent. This was the first time I have seen you and think you are one of the best Genesis bands I've seen. I will try to come along to the Kings Head gig next week (Xmas arrangements permitting). Cheers, Chris Dunk

P.S. Keep up the great work and do you do 'Watcher of the Skies'?

Kings Head - Fulham - London
Barry Kent: 7 October - Following P.W.Osborn's revue of the 'G2'enesis' gig on Sunday 1st October at the Amersham Arms in New Cross, I decided to go and check them out at the Kings Head, Fulham SW6. Not having a go at you Paul, but after what you said in your paperlate posting 10654, ('I am in no way affiliated or connected with G2'enesis') I wanted to see whether your praise was from the heart or from personal interest!

There is a bit of a wash of Genesis tributes in the UK - Re-Genesis, In The Cage, Invisible Touch and when I saw the G2'enesis postings my first thought was, 'not another!' OK, some might say, 'hey, you can't get too much of a good thing!' But you have to draw a line - right?

Well I have to say I was blown away! As a guy who has seen ALL the above and the Italian offering, 'Suppers Ready', I was totally amazed by G2'enesis. There accuracy is spot on, as you said Paul, 'close your eyes and its Earl's court '77' and the energy really punches through. Now I know beauty is in the eye and personal choice is an individual thing, but listen to me people, you have got to check them out! They are up there with Re-Genesis and frankly the others aren't.

Whistle - 'All Aboard!' Definitely room for one more - Barry.

Dave McGeachie: 7 October - Saw a brilliant gig by G2'enesis at Kings Head in Fulham on Thursday. Main points:

A. Everything was played with such flair and obvious enjoyment by the band, which was great. Not a weak link anywhere, all the guys are seriously top musos and the singer is brilliant too.

B. Robbery Assault & Battery - musically one of my top three tracks ever, so to hear it played so perfectly and with such gusto in front of my eyes was just so-oo good!

C. Cinema show too - hadn't heard that live ever, was joyous

D. Only problem - not on for long enough! Which I know is not the band's fault, but talk about 'leaving them wanting more!'

I can't wait until the next gig. I really loved this. Two and a-half hours of this band will be bliss. Thanks for the music guys and a 'Dave Mac' nod to Dave the bass player. Good to meet you and well played. By the way, I have no connection at all to any of these bands I go on about here. If I thought they were dodgy I'd say it, but the above are brilliant. And, yes, I do have a life apart from seeing tribute bands! The thing is, I can't resist it if there's a gig on. See ya. D

Ken Ironside: 10 October - I was at the King's Head last Thursday too and it was my first experience of a Genesis tribute band. Living in Aberdeen, we don't get too many good bands this far north, so I was delighted to find G2'enesis had a gig on the day I happened to be in London and I'll echo what Barry said, these guys were excellent, playing most of Seconds Out. I hadn't expected them to be that good. The only disappointing thing was they were restricted to a 1 hour set instead of the normal 2 hours. Maybe next time I'll hear them play Supper's Ready and the whole of Cinema Show!

The attention to detail is spot on, the lead singer does a good Phil impression into the bargain! For all of you who live in the London area, get along to see G2'enesis. I got into Genesis in '76 but regrettably didn't see them live for the first time till '82. The likes of G2'enesis (and the other tribute bands I'm sure) go a huge way to filling a void and giving us the opportunity to hear our favourite music live. Give them your support. Cheers, Ken

Paul Williams: 4 December - Many congratulations on a magnificent musical experience last Sunday evening at the King's Head. My brother and I (very vocal at the front) both agreed that it was a quality performance - may there be many more!

Id like to make a suggestion for a piece that I would love to hear live - its from G2'enesis' era as well, 'Inside and Out' from the 'Spot the Pigeon' EP. How this never made it onto W & W is beyond me but the closing keyboard section is quite simply awesome. Anyway congratulations once again - am busy spreading the word about G2'enesis and looking forward enormously to the Amersham Arms gig. Best Regards, Paul Williams

Paul Williams: 6 December - A fiver??? 'You was robbed'. This is not an invite to put up the prices merely an indication that (without wanting to sound corny) it was probably the best £5 I've ever spent. A really authentic sound out front though the first 30 mins could have had the keyboards a little more up front in the mix!! (In That Quiet Earth for example) - but that's nit-picking....a fabulous experience - thanks. Keep it up and see ya on the 17th. Cheers, Paul Williams

Michael Stanley: 7 December - I just want to say thank you for the gig last Sunday at the Kings Head, Fulham. The musicianship was first class as was the sound. The whole gig was brilliant from start to finish and I should know having seen Genesis on many occasions since 1976. You sounded like the real thing. Please keep going as I'm sure you will build up a sizeable following.

I will definitely come to as many gigs as I can over the coming months and look forward to seeing you at the Genesis convention in March. Once again thank you all for your hard work and giving people the opportunity to listen to Genesis music played to an incredibly high standard. Regards, Michael Stanley

Bits'n'Bobs
